From reaching out to meeting your clinician

The first contact often begins with a thought or a wish: I want to feel differently.

Sometimes reaching out is your own decision. Sometimes encouragement comes from a loved one, your primary care clinician, or your therapist. Your psychiatrist may also refer you for a specific service while continuing to oversee your ongoing care.

Reaching out

You can begin by calling 817-659-7344 or contacting the office through our website. If you reach voicemail, please leave your name, callback number, and a convenient time to reach you. A brief message is enough—you do not need to explain your full history at this stage.

Amanda will return your call, explain the process, answer scheduling questions, and help you arrange an appointment with an appropriate provider. You can share what brings you to the practice at a pace that feels comfortable.

Preparing for your appointment

Once your appointment is scheduled, we will send your new-patient paperwork. Please complete and return it at least 48 hours before your visit. Thoughtful, detailed answers help your clinician prepare and allow more time for conversation during your appointment. Include your concerns, treatment history, current medications, and what you hope to gain from care. If you are unsure of an answer, simply say so.

The paperwork also lets you tell us how we may contact you, whether we may leave messages, and whom you authorize us to communicate with. Appointment reminders may be provided by phone, voicemail, text, or email according to your selections. Email is intended for scheduling; medication questions and clinical concerns should be discussed with your clinician.

You are welcome to bring someone you trust for support. You can discuss with your clinician how you would like that person involved.

When you arrive

On the day of your appointment, please arrive a few minutes early. Our office staff will welcome you, assist with check-in and payment, and invite you to have your vital signs checked. Your clinician will then greet you and invite you into their office.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive. The first visit is an opportunity to be heard, ask questions, and begin developing a plan together.
