What to Expect from a Follow-Up Appointment with Your Clinician

Follow-up appointments are an important part of your care. They help track your progress, understand what has changed, and adjust your treatment when needed. Each visit is tailored to your individual needs and concerns.

During your appointment, your clinician may ask about how you’ve been feeling since your last visit. This can include your mood, daily activities, sleep, appetite, and any weight changes. You may also discuss any new symptoms or concerns that have come up.

If you are taking medication, you will review how it is working for you and whether you are experiencing any side effects. Your clinician may also ask about any new medical conditions, new laboratory findings, changes in medications, or use of substances that could affect your health.

Sometimes, not everything can be addressed in one visit. For this reason, we encourage you to come prepared with notes or a list of concerns so we can focus on what feels most important to you during the appointment.

At the end of the visit, you and your clinician will review a plan moving forward. This may include medication adjustments, supportive strategies, or practical ways to manage stress and improve daily functioning. The plan is always personalized to your situation.

Follow-up appointments are typically up to 30 to 45 minutes. The length and timing of future visits are guided by your clinical needs and progress, and your next appointment will be scheduled accordingly with your clinician or through the office staff.

The goal of these appointments is to provide consistent support and help you move toward improved well-being over time.
